My interests are varied and I do not like the idea of being constrained to one particular subject matter. Despite the varied subject matter the one constant in my studio practice is a love of traditional oil painting techniques, the craft side of painting if you will, especially referencing the Northern Renaissance masters. This often involves me researching old treatises (and some not so old!) and trying out old recipes for paint and mediums to find ones that suit me. Experimentation that has led me to gain an intimate knowledge of the materials with which I work, and given me greater control in my painting process.
